Your first contact with a prospective client is likely to be over the phone or via email. They will have heard about you from a friend, seen your website or advertisement, or looked in your shop window, and will either want to make a booking or know more about your work.

Increasingly, couples are searching the Internet for a photographer whose style they like, and then telephoning to find out whether they are available on the date they have planned. Less often – unless the photographer has a shop – do the couple pay a visit in person to look at prints and albums before making a decision, although that does still sometimes happen.
